Community technology advisory commission The St. Louis Park Community Technology Advisory Commission is meeting in person in the community room on the first floor of St. Louis Park City Hall, 5005 Minnetonka Blvd. Members of the public may attend the meeting in person. Adjournment Community technology advisory commission meeting July 23, 2025 6 p.m. Community technology advisory commission Minutes Members present: Rudyard Dyer, Nat Johnson, Shane Leverenz, Kayla Stautz, Benjamin Straus Members absent: Rolf Peterson, Konnor Slaats Staff liaison: Jacque Smith, communications and technology director 1. Call to order – roll call Meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. 2. Approval of minutes – June 25, 2025 Johnson moved, Stautz seconded approval. Motion approved 4-0 by Dyer, Johnson, Leverenz, Stautz. Straus arrived following approval of minutes. 3. Work session Commission members shared 2-3 ideas each, an assignment from the previous meeting. Ideas included responsible AI in government (applications and policies); evaluating and enhancing engagement with city technology (how are residents engaged, app or improved mobile website); city technology workshop series (community education on available technology); technology assistance and advice (education on scams, general tips and tricks); monthly city technology tip; DIY crash course (linking to online content); technology in/at playgrounds (use case, accessibility, equipment); technology programs and training (partnering with organizations and school district); online new homeowner/resident experience; participatory budgeting; technology in public safety (policy research on new technology – facial recognition, license plate readers); future of technology in cities; technology communication tools; and technology in cities one- pagers for city council/educating our city leaders. From those ideas, two themes were identified: education and engagement. It was agreed that a group for each theme would work on a draft advisory form to city council on these topics. Groups are Stautz, Johnson and Dyer for education and Leverenz, Straus and Slaats for engagement. The commission will work together at its Aug. 27 meeting to finalize the advisory form. 4. Update on workplan items Smith discussed the progress of the city website redesign and the opportunity for a CTAC member to participate in an upcoming user experience work session; more details to come. Smith also shared the direction for school-board appointed commission members, who will be transitioned to regular commission members this fall. CTAC has one school-board appointed seat, currently held by Peterson, who has chosen not to seek reappointment. A new member will be appointed this fall by the city council. 5. Next meeting: Aug. 27 Members agreed to meet Aug. 27 rather than waiting for the September meeting. 6. Adjournment Johnson moved, Leverenz seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting, all voted in favor.
