1. Call to order – roll call – 6:05pm
2. Approval of agenda
A motion was made by Commissioner Alvarez, seconded by Commissioner Bashore,
to approve the agenda of the May 27, 2025 meeting. Motion carried
3. Approval of minutes
A motion was made by Commissioner Alvarez, seconded by Commissioner Conlife,
to approve the meeting minutes of the April 17, 2025 meeting. Motion carried

Commissioner Kay and Conlife gave kudos to commissioner Bashore for all the work
he has done for their subcommittee.
Mr. Coleman commended Commissioner Kay for her efforts in developing a mock-
up of a potential future community resource list. He acknowledged the significant
progress made by the commissioners and shared that his next steps involve
collaborating with both REI and the communications staff to advance the resource
list. He plans to provide another update at the June meeting.
7. Work group/subcommittee updates
a. Work group updates
Commissioner Anderson provided an update on the resource list being
compiled by the HRC. It was noted that potential federal budget cuts may
impact many human services programs, highlighting the importance of further
research. Anderson also emphasized the potential impact on the HIV
community and suggested adding HIV-related resources to the list.

Commissioner Alvarez shared that during her recent reappointment interview,
council members expressed interest in the HRC serving as a key resource hub for
the community—helping residents access vital information and services.
Commissioner Isabel added that the compiled resources could be especially
useful for high school and middle school students, particularly in the areas of
prevention and care education.
Commissioner Bashore updated the group on upcoming tabling opportunities,
identifying several city-hosted events where the HRC could participate once they
finalize necessary materials. Mr. Coleman reminded the commission that,
despite limited supplies, they can still sign up for events to support Vision 4.0
over the summer.
Commissioner Alvarez also reported on the Walk in the Park event, which the
HRC will co-host with Friends of the Arts. The commission began brainstorming
theme ideas in alignment with Vision 4.0. Additionally, Alvarez announced that
the Banned Book Brunch, part of the Literacy Festival, is scheduled for August 16
at Punch Bowl Social.
8. Chair and staff updates
a. Vision 4.0
Mr. Coleman provided commissioners with an update on the current stage
of the city staff’s visioning process. He also encouraged commissioners to
participate in upcoming tabling opportunities.
b. Current Appointment Process
Mr. Coleman reminded staff that appointments for current vacancies would
be announced at the city council meeting on June 2, 2025. He also reminded
them that, youth board positions are currently open, and staff plan to fill
vacancies in the early fall of 2025
9. Other business
a. Marcus Paul – Elections Update
Elections specialist, Marcus Paul gave a presentation about 2025 candidate
filings for city council and school board. The presentation covered topics
such as election basics, how to run for office, and the life of a council
member.
