Subject:St. Louis Park Water at Risk | Please Share with Sustainability Commission

Good afternoon Ms. Ziring,
I'm asking that you please share this email with the Environmental & Sustainability
Commission.
I hope this email finds you well! I am a resident and homeowner in St. Louis Park. I
absolutely love our City and all that St. Louis Park offers its residents and the public
at large.
We are fortunate to have great, safe tap water. Much of this water is sourced from
the Prairie du Chien-Jordan aquifer. Unfortunately, the City of Elko New Market’s
City Council is moving forward with a project that would put the safety and
availability of this water in jeopardy.
The proposed project is for a California-based company intending to bottle our
Prairie du Chien-Jordan aquifer water for profit. Eventually, the City of Elko New
Market is hoping to allow Niagara Bottling to withdraw 365 MILLION GALLONS
ANNUALLY.
I understand that this is not an action within our community, but this action certainly
will greatly impact our community for good. Not only that, it sets a precedent that
out-of-state companies can simply invest a tiny amount of money to strip us of our
greatest asset and resource: our water.
Elko New Market’s City Council meets every second and fourth Thursday each
month at 7:00PM. I’m planning on speaking at the Public Comment period at this
Thursday’s meeting, I strongly urge you to lend your voice to this opposition.
Thank you for your consideration. I am so greatly appreciative of your service to our
community and your stewardship of our environment!
