HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022/05/19 - ADMIN - Minutes - Community Technology Advisory Commission - Regular Community technology advisory commission meeting May 19, 2022 6 p.m. Minutes Community technology advisory commission Members present: Abe Levine, Michael Siegler, Cindy Hoffman, Kelly Heitz, Konnor Slaats Members absent: Bruce Browning, Rolf Peterson Staff present: Jacque Smith Guests: None 1. Call to order – roll call Meeting called to order at 6 p.m. 2. Approval of minutes – March 10, 2022 Levine moved, Heitz seconded, all approved the minutes as written. 3. Update on commission appointment process Browning and Levine will leave at the end of their term May 31, 2022. Drew Keogh and Rudyard Dyer appointed; Slaats reappointed. Smith is checking on status of Peterson, whose term as school representative ends May 31, 2022. 4. Smart cities initiative committee check ins a. Connected communities No updates – no feedback from marketing campaigns. Browning and Siegler chatted a few times. Last time they talked was about cable franchise fund trends for marketing. b. Environment Peterson absent. c. GIS-enabled applications i. Housing Heitz has reached out to housing and staff knows they are available. ii. Police department use of force and demographics Levine reported no further updates, last heard was that comments would be incorporated. iii. Race equity No progress; racial equity staff not hired at city yet. Next step is check in with city council on next steps. Smith to check in with city clerk on schedule for this. 5. Other comments Levine talked about state of Michigan looking at electrified roads, and Sweden expanding its network. Levine recommends that the city follow this technology from Electreon and keep informed. Siegler mentioned keeping an eye on 5G technology. Levine also talked about LIDAR enabled smartphones that can help avoid collisions between cars/pedestrians, for example. Community technology advisory commission meeting May 19, 2022 Heitz reported that Burnsville started a tech task force and saw St. Louis Park as an example. Siegler asked Heitz for contact information and a meeting. 6.Next meeting: July 21, 2022 Levine moved, Siegler seconded a motion to adjourn. All voted in favor.
