HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-001 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 2022/01/03Resolution No. 22-001 Resolution appointing councilmembers to the office of mayor pro tem for the year 2022 Whereas, Minnesota State Statute Section 412.121 requires cities to choose each year an acting mayor from the council members; and Whereas, St. Louis Park Home Rule Charter Section 2.06 states the acting mayor (mayor pro tem) shall perform the duties of mayor in case of the mayor’s disability, absence from the city, or in case of vacancy in the office of mayor until a successor is appointed and qualified; and Whereas, councilmembers appointed as mayor pro tem serve a four-month term beginning in January of each year, with the appointments made on a rotating basis based upon seniority, or for councilmembers elected at the same time, seniority is based on alphabetical order of last name; and Whereas, in the absence of the mayor and mayor pro tem, the most senior available councilmember will serve as acting mayor pro tem, and if a councilmember is unable to or chooses not to complete their term as mayor pro tem, the next councilmember in the rotation will complete the term and continue to serve their term as scheduled; and Whereas, the council has carefully reviewed the qualifications of all members and has considered the desires of the residents and the welfare of the city as a whole, Now therefore be it resolved by the St. Louis Park City Council that the following councilmembers are hereby appointed to the position of mayor pro tem of the City of St. Louis Park and shall serve in that capacity until duly elected successors are appointed by the city council: Councilmember Term of Appointment Tim Brausen January – April 2022 Lynette Dumalag May – August 2022 Sue Budd September – December 2022 Reviewed for administration: Adopted by the city council January 3, 2022 Kim Keller, city manager Jake Spano, mayor Attest: Melissa Kennedy, city clerk DocuSign Envelope ID: 6F0612E7-A0DB-4B5C-9CF7-DE19098362AA
