a) Discussion
Responses to January meeting follow up questions:
1. What outcome do we want to achieve from this event?
“One SLP” – people to understand that we are all one community
Develop familiarity with government
o Understanding
o Encouragement for engagement and involvement in community
Learning about our shared differences
Exchange information and experiences
Show what different commissions and city departments do (for example, police) and how
people can connect with them
b) Consensus Discussion
Partner with existing community event: Children First Ice Cream Social (May)? Parktacular
(June)? Community Link (August)?
Plan is to partner with existing community event this year, then plan one separately on our own
next year
Best option would be to have a big event that would be open to the entire SLP community
Consensus to focus on an event that would highlight and celebrate diversity in St. Louis Park
through fun, interactive activities that would also be educational
Serve food, have live music, games that showcase different ethnicities and groups in the
community at different booths or tables spread out in a large space (“Taste of SLP”)
Possible location: Louisiana Oaks? Wolfe Park (if with Children First Ice Cream Social)?

Staff will connect with potential event partners to get more information and look into
possibilities
Next communications on decision making will take place via email; we will decide from there on
future meetings, and who all will be involved in the planning
