HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017/01/04 - ADMIN - Minutes - Police Advisory Commission - Regular City of St. Louis Park Police Advisory Commission Minutes – January 4th, 2017 Roll Call Room, SLP Police Department I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:00. Commissioners Present: Steven Hansen, Kevin Curry, Michael Howes Tom Kukuk, Jay Arneson Staff Present: Lieutenant Harcey and Officer Paul Barnes II. Approval of Minutes The minutes from the November 9th 2016 meeting were approved. III. Safe Police Interaction presentation by Officer Paul Barnes IV. Body Worn Cameras Lt. Harcey led a discussion on the use of body worn cameras. He provided a summary of what the department has done on research to this point and discussed the two presentations to Council on the program. Commissioners were provided the Council report from the last presentation on the program. Lt. Harcey informed the Commission that Council would like their input on the need for the department to continue moving forward with implementing a body worn camera program. The commission decided to review the documentation provided and further discuss the matter at the March meeting. V. Old Business Commissioners were encouraged to contact Lt. Harcey to set up a ride along with an Officer. VI. New Business Police Chief John Luse and Deputy Chief Kirk DiLorenzo have retired effect 12-31-16. The hiring process is underway and Commissioners may be asked to participate in the process. Commissioners discussed possible initiatives for 2017. Ideas included continuing at looking into the Body Camera issue and assisting the Police Department with policy input. Lt. Harcey informed the Annual Report to Council is scheduled for February 27th and that the report to Council is due February 13th. VII. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
