Resolution approving a COVID-19 vaccination incentive for city employees
Whereas the city council wishes to adopt policies for city employees which ensure
adequate compensation, leave and benefits; and
Whereas the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota
Department of Health (MDH) have strongly encouraged vaccination against COVID-19 with the
goal of stopping the spread of the virus and ending the pandemic; and
Whereas the city council wishes to incentivize staff who are already vaccinated to
provide proof and verification of vaccination, and incentivize others to become vaccinated as
quickly as possible to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all staff and customers; and
Whereas the city council has conferred upon the city manager the power to establish
and administer additional administrative policies and rules as may be appropriate to administer
the employment practices of the city;
Now therefore be it resolved that the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park approves
a $300 pre-paid cash card COVID-19 vaccination incentive for regular benefit-earning
employees and deems the incentive a sufficient public purpose expenditure to protect
employees and customers. Further, the city council confers upon the city manager the authority
to develop and administer policy criteria for the COVID-19 vaccination incentive policy.
