The current speed limit is higher than most drivers are comfortable traveling, and lowering it will support safety on those streets; and, Whereas, it is recommended that the City of Edina and the City of St. Louis Park enter into an agreement for speed limits on shared local streets to provide clear and consistent information to the traveling public; and, Whereas, the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park deems it proper and in the public interest to enter into an agreement with the City of Edina to establish the speed limit for shared local streets; and, Whereas, St. Louis Park is committed to providing a variety of options for people to make their way around the city comfortably, safely, and reliably. Now therefore be it resolved, the mayor and city manager are hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the city to execute and enter into an agreement with the City of Edina for speed limits on shared local streets.
