Minutes – July 16, 2019
Westwood Room, City Hall
I. Call to Order
Chair Eustaquio called the meeting to order at 7:05.
A. Roll Call
Commissioners Present: Maria Eustaquio, Virginia, Amaya Fokuo, Marian Mohamud,
Katherine Arnold, Emily Buchholz,
Staff Present: Darius Gray, Lt. Garland, Marney
B. Approval of Agenda
Agenda was approved.
C. Approval of Minutes
Previous months meetings were approval.
II. Bias/Hate Crime Review (7:08)
None were reported.
III. Kudos:
Bethann baby sleeping through the night
Marney former tentant complete master degree and gave a shout out to housing
authority.
IV. Presentation from Community development and Housing Authority (7:15)
Marney and Akua presented. Commission requested that the HRC hear the Fair Housing
complaints, we will wait to see how it is incorporated into the draft before we vote on it.
How do they intend to engage with renters. How do they help them navitage?
We will invite them back to
Census happening April 1, 2020.
• Send Marney and Akua contact info to HRC.
V. Meeting with City Council
Fruitful discussion that recapped our meeting with City Council.
HRC needs a plan that is feasabile and we can stick with.

VI. Meeting with Kay
Need to look at bylaws.
Task force to review the bylaws and report back to HRC. Anyone not on taskforce will do
work on their own and we will come together to discuss all thoughts.
Astein, Virginia, Bethann, Maria on the task force.
Virginia will lead the task force

Nicole – invite Nicole to more meeting I will converse with her.

VII. Immmirigration proposal
HRC got the initial okay to spend some moneies on doing something to help benefit. Do a
flu shot offering at a school. Also been in contact with STEP – aid with mattress, car repairs.
STEP less restrictive money. Two things: concrete trackable things and the STEP thing might be
less.

September we will have our meeting.
