1. Call to order
President Hanks called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Roll call
The following commissioners were present at roll call: George
Haun, Allen Friedman, Ron Latz, Robert Young, and Lyle Hanks.
Gail Dorfman arrived as the meeting was in session.
Also present was the Executive Director (Mr. Meyer), EDA Attorney
(Mr. Steilen)
3. Approval of minutes
It was moved by Commissioner Friedman, seconded by Commissioner
Haun, to approve. The motion passed 5-0.
4. Approval of agenda
It was moved by Commissioner Friedman, seconded by Commissioner
Haun, to approve the agenda. The motion passed 5-0.
5. Reports
Commissioner Haun gave an update on Excelsior Blvd. task force
meetings which have occurred on three occasions. He said there
was generally agreement on most of the issues. Basically the
business owners have concerns re the Tower Place project and how
it is going to affect their businesses -- mainly parking and
whether this is going to be an accessible project or not. Also
what it is going to cost them. He felt the Authority should give
serious thought to these items. He didn't think there was
anything that couldn't be worked out but there were problems.
Mr. Meyer said there was a positive concern and the staging of
the process has been difficult because we've been so far along
with the Park Nicollet and Frauenshuh projects. To do the advance
work on the rest of Excelsior Blvd. has seemed to be off in its
timing. He felt the EDA has to have that discussion at an
upcoming study session.
