RECOMMENDED ACTION: No formal action requested POLICY CONSIDERATION: Not applicable at this time. Based on the discussion which occurs at the meeting, certain policy considerations may become apparent. BACKGROUND: For a number of years the City Council and School Board have met at least annually to discuss matters of mutual interest. Starting about three years ago we began the use of a facilitator to insure as productive of a conversation as possible. The facilitators for our upcoming meeting will be our own Bridget Gothberg and Bob Wittman, Community Ed. Director for the Robbinsdale School District. We have asked Bob to assist as Bridget may be a bit late to the meeting due to a travel commitment. Attached is the agenda for the meeting. This agenda is the same as I shared with you before. As you can see, the primary discussion item relates to a conversation on St. Louis Park demographics. This conversation is an intentional follow-up to last years meeting where we spent time discussing this very matter. To assist with this conversation will be a Hazel Rienhart, a demographer that Debra Bowers and I retained, who will present the results of a study she undertook for us. Attached is the data she will be running thru during the meeting. The meeting location is Room 350 at the Senior High School. Dinner will be available. FINANCIAL OR BUDGET CONSIDERATION: Not Applicable VISION CONSIDERATION: None specifically apparent at this time. Connections (20 minutes) 2. Dialogue on Demographics: Hazel Rienhart has competed the study of St. Louis Park Demographics. Please read the enclosed summary. The focus of the dialog is to: o Learn what the study results are o Understand now what does that mean for us as a community o Consider possibilities around what are we going to do about it as partners (90 minutes) 3. Updates o Marketing and Branding City o Equity Task Force School District o Facilities Both (What are we doing with current facilities, what are potential facility needs, what is happening with new development related to facility needs) (75 minutes) 4. Closure and Adjournment (10 minutes)
