RECOMMENDED ACTION:
No formal action requested
POLICY CONSIDERATION:
Not applicable at this time. Based on the discussion which occurs at the meeting, certain policy
considerations may become apparent.
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years the City Council and School Board have met at least annually to discuss
matters of mutual interest. Starting about three years ago we began the use of a facilitator to
insure as productive of a conversation as possible. The facilitators for our upcoming meeting
will be our own Bridget Gothberg and Bob Wittman, Community Ed. Director for the
Robbinsdale School District. We have asked Bob to assist as Bridget may be a bit late to the
meeting due to a travel commitment.
Attached is the agenda for the meeting. This agenda is the same as I shared with you before. As
you can see, the primary discussion item relates to a conversation on St. Louis Park
demographics. This conversation is an intentional follow-up to last years meeting where we
spent time discussing this very matter. To assist with this conversation will be a Hazel Rienhart,
a demographer that Debra Bowers and I retained, who will present the results of a study she
undertook for us. Attached is the data she will be running thru during the meeting.
The meeting location is Room 350 at the Senior High School. Dinner will be available.
FINANCIAL OR BUDGET CONSIDERATION:
Not Applicable
VISION CONSIDERATION:
None specifically apparent at this time. However, possible outcomes from the meeting may
touch on a number of Vision related areas e.g. housing, community gathering places, diversity,
etc.
