RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A
STORMWATER RETENTION/DETENTION POND IN WOLFE PARK
WHEREAS, a stormwater retention/detention pond was originally included in the
construction drawings and contract documents for the Rec Center Renaissance Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the construction of said pond is to be
incorporated into the overall reconstruction of Wolfe Park and is to be considered an integral
component of that project and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that construction of said pond is necessary
to manage stormwater run-off from the Rec Center Renaissance Project and desirable as a
physical amenity to Wolfe Park; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the public to
remove construction of said pond from the existing contract with DKH Excavating, Inc. and to
solicit new bids for construction of said pond based on the redesign prepared by Close Landscape
Architecture:
NOW THEREFORE BE 11' RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis
Park that the City staff project architect and construction manager for the Rec Center
Renaissance Project are hereby authorized to prepare all documents necessary to amend the
existing contract with DKH Excavating, Inc. to delete construction of the project's stormwater
retention/detention pond located south of the facility's main parking lot;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is authorized to execute a
contract with Close Landscape Architecture for preparation of construction documents for the
Wolfe Park retention/detention pond at a cost not to exceed $9,240, and that the City Manager is
further authorized to solicit bids for the construction of said pond.
