HomeMy WebLinkAbout97-124 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1997/09/15r, RESOLUTION NO.' 97 `` „1.2 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED 1997 TAX LEVY, COLLECTIBLE IN 1998 AND APPROVING PROPOSED BUDGET FOR 1998 WHEREAS, The City of St. Louis Park is required by Charter and State law to approve a resolution setting forth an annual tax levy to the Hennepin County Auditor, and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes currently in force require approval of a proposed tax levy and a preliminary budget as well as dates for the initial and continuation public hearings on the proposed levy and budget on or before September 15th of each year; and WHEREAS, the City Council has received the proposed budget document; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that the preliminary budget for 1998 shall be as follows: Available Resources General property taxes $ 9,116,632 Licenses & permits 1,208,080 Intergovernmental 6,997,944 Charges for services 1,452,136 Fines & forfeitures 332,705 Enterprise 8,264,143 Special assessments 896,466 Miscellaneous 1,723,076 Refunds and reimbursements 5,659,364 Interfund transfers 318,260 Total current revenue $ 35,968,806 Less: Transfers and charges between funds (5,273,577) Net revenues Fund Balance / Reserves - Jan. 1 $ 30,695,229 34,302,124 Total Available $ 64,997,353 97prtax.doc Requirements Personal services $ 16,799,196 Supplies, services and other charges 17,268,916 Capital outlay 2,941,758 Interfund transfers 318,260 Total appropriations 37,328,130 Less: Transfers and charges between funds (5,273,577) Net Appropriations 32,054,553 Fund Balance / Reserves - Dec. 31 32,942,803 Total Requirements $ 64,997,356 and as supported by the detailed proposed budget document; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the dates for the public hearing on the proposed tax levy and budget is set for Wednesday, December 3, 1997 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, and should a continuation hearing be required, that the date for the continuation hearing will be Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at 7.30 p m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota, that the following sums of money be levied in 1997, collectible in 1998 upon the taxable property in said City of St. Louis Park for the following purposes: General Fund $ 7,015,564 Parks & Recreation 1,758,914 Parks Improvement 49,092 G.O. Debt Service 289,480 Total $ 9,113,050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the County Auditor of Hennepin County, Minnesota and to the Local Government Aids/Analysis Division, Department of Revenue, State of Minnesota as required by law.
