A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION
PLAN TO INCLUDE PAID -ON-CALL FIREFIGHTERS, AND
AMENDING RESOLUTION 95-170.
EFFECTIVE JUNE 1, 1996
WHEREAS, as authorized by Section 3-301 of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code, the City
Council has established the "Position Classification Plan and Salary Administration Program
for the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota"; and
WHEREAS, Section 3-301 provides that as often as necessary, the Position Classification and
Salary Plan shall be reviewed and revised by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to provide for the continuity of fire service in the City of
St. Louis Park; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved a motion to augment the current full-time
firefighting force through the addition of a paid -on-call supplemental force; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish a salary structure for paid -on-call firefighters;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish a yearly bonus based on performance as an
alternative to pensions for paid -on-call firefighters,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park:
1) The Position Classification and Salary Plan for the City of St. Louis Park, N innesota shall
be amended to include a salary structure for paid -on-call firefighters. The hourly
compensation shall be as follows:

$6.00/ HOUR
UPON FIREFIGHTER 1 CERTIFICATION
$8.00/ HOUR
UPON FIRST RESPONDER CERTIFICATION
$9.00/ HOUR
UPON FIREFIGHTER 2 CERTIFICATION
$10.00/ HOUR
OFFICER PAY
$11.00/ HOUR
2) The City Council hereby establishes a yearly performance bonus program with terms and
conditions to be established by the Fire Chief and approved by the City Manager;
3) The yearly performance bonus amounts for paid -on-call firefighters shall be as detailed
below. These amounts shall be subject to periodic review and revision by the City Council
upon recommendation by the Fire Chief and the City Manager.
