RESOLUTION NO: 95-53
RESOLUTION DECLARING ST. LOUIS PARK'S INTENTION TO DEVELOP A
BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN TRAIL CONNECTING TO THE
CEDAR LAKE TRAIL AT T.H. 100
WHEREAS, the City of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and the Cedar
Lake Park Association (herein after collectively referred to as "Minneapolis") have cooperatively
worked on design and development of a regional bicycle/pedestrian trail facility known as the
Cedar Lake Trail; and
WHEREAS, Minneapolis has begun the initial phases of construction of the Cedar Lake Trail,
which runs from downtown Minneapolis to State Trunk Highway 100 in St. Louis Park; and
WHEREAS, the City of St. Louis Park has been the lead agency in working with Hennepin Parks
and Hennepin County in a cooperative effort to plan and secure funding for a major
bicycle/pedestrian trail facility known as the Southwest Regional Trail which is intended to link
the Minneapolis regional trail system to the Hennepin Parks regional train system in Hopkins;
and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the City of St. Louis Park to connect the Southwest Regional Trail
to the Cedar Lake Trail at or near its juncture with T.H. 100; and
WHEREAS, it is the understanding of the City of St. Louis Park that Minneapolis will support St.
Louis Park's funding requests for development and construction of the Southwest Regional Trail,
and desires a full connection of said Trail to the Cedar Lake Trail at or near its juncture with T.H.
100:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of St. Louis Park does hereby
declare its intention to connect the Southwest Regional Trail to the Cedar Lake Trail in the most
expeditious and expedient manner reasonably possible.
