LOUIS PARK PORTION OF THE CEDAR LAKE PARK TRAIL WHEREAS, On December 17, 1990, the St. Louis Park City Council adopted Resolution #90- 184 which states that, "The City Council of the City of St. Louis Park considers the trail corridor adjacentpportto Cedar rea LakePark to be of f the Cedar Lake ParklT ail lconnectionf from Highway 100 that said Council to dorsesthe Central nd supports the creation o Mississippi River Front Park"; and WHEREAS, that property referred to as the Cedar Lake Trail Corridor, which extends from Highway 100 to the eastern St. Louis Park City limit, is held in ownership by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, which intends to work in close cooperation with the City of Minneapolis and the City of St. Louis Park in the development of a major bicycle and pedestrian trail facility in the corridor; and WHEREAS, the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board have requested that the City of St. Louis Park approve plans for Project #SP 141-090-01 showing proposed alignment, profiles, grades and cross sections for the construction of said project within the limits of St. Louis Park; and WHEREAS, that portion of the plans for Project #SP 141-090-01 which addresses ramped access from the primary trail system into St. Louis Park residential neighborhoods adjacent to Cedar Lake Road has been determined by the St. Louis Park City Council to be of concern to the community and to be in need of further study and review ; and WHEREAS, the St. Louis Park City Council has expressed support for extension of the proposed trail plan to a connection with the south frontage road of Highway 100 at a point just east of Highway 100; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the St. Louis Park City Council hereby rejects that portion of the original plan for al ct neighborSP hoods adja90-01 cchent P tovides CedaaLake Road; from the primary trail system BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of St. Louis Park approves conceptual plans for the balance of Project #SP 141-090-01 showing proposed alignment, profiles, grades and cross sections for the construction, re -construction or improvements of a County State Aid highway project within the limits of the City of St. Louis Park as a Federal/State Aid project, modified to include a continuous bicycle/pedestrian trial system from the eastern City limit to the eastern edge of Highway 100, as presented to the City; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of St. Louis Park is committed to working in close cooperation with the City of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the Save Cedar Lake Park Organization and area residents in developing consensus for an acceptable neighborhood access to the main Cedar Lake Trail Corridor at or near Cedar Lake Road. t Cit erk Att es : Y Adopted by the City Council May 2, 1994 Ma r Lyle W.
