Resolution Endorsing the Glen Lake Task Force Recommendation
Regarding the Concept of a Public Golf Course
Adjacent to the Hennepin County Home School
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners established a Glen Lake
Task Force in August of 1991 to make recommendations to the County Board regarding long-
term utilization of the County's Glen Lake Property;
WHEREAS, in July of 1993, the Glen Lake Task Force concluded that a golf course
should be considered for a portion of the Glen Lake Property and directed staff to explore
alternative golf course concepts;
WHEREAS, in December of 1993, the Glen Lake Task Force discussed various options
and supported the idea of a golf course on all or part of the Glen Lake property not utilized by
the Hennepin County Home School which respected the rights of the Home School clients;
WHEREAS, on January 10, 1994 the Minnetonka City Council officially endorsed the
Glen Lake Task Force recommendation that the concept of a public golf course and other
complementary uses such as a driving range are appropriate and compatible uses around and
adjacent to the Hennepin County Home School on Glen Lake property;
WHEREAS, the Minnetonka City council has officially requested that the St. Louis
Park City Council endorse the Glen Lake Task Force recommendations in an effort to assist
the many golf enthusiasts in the western suburban area by supporting a golf facility at this
location;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of St.
Louis Park does hereby endorse the Glen Lake Task Force recommendation that the concept
of a public golf course and other complementary uses such as a driving range are appropriate
and compatible uses around and adjacent to the Hennepin County Home School on the Glen
Lake property and that this use will provide a public recreational benefit to County residents.
