HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-30 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1992/03/02RESOLUTION NO. 92-30 RESOLUTION REQUESTING MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION APPROVAL OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM AT THE LOUISIANA AVENUE/FRANKLIN AVENUE INTERSECTION AND EXPENDITURE OF MUNICIPAL STATE AID FUNDS TO FINANCE THE PROJECT WHEREAS, the City of St. Louis Park has conducted a study to determine the need for a traffic signal system at the Louisiana Avenue/Franklin Avenue intersection, and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined a traffic system is justified based upon safety issues and the proximity of the intersection serving as pedestrian and bicycle access to major City parks, the St. Louis Park Junior High School and a City-wide trail system, and WHEREAS, both Louisiana Avenue and Franklin Avenue are designated as Municipal State Aid routes and improvements are eligible for expenditure of Municipal State Aid funds if said improvements comply with Municipal State Aid standards and/or are approved by the Office of Municipal State Aid with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, that: 1. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is hereby requested to find that the proposed traffic signal installation at the Louisiana Avenue/Franklin Avenue intersection is justified based upon safety concerns and that said installation is therefore approved. 2. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is hereby requested to authorize expenditure of the City's Municipal State Aid Funds for the design and construction of said traffic signal system.
