HomeMy WebLinkAbout91-85 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1991/04/15RESOLUTION NO. 91-85 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 89-07; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONSULTANT SERVICES CONTRACT FOR CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION/INSPECTION RELATED TO IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 89-07; AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR THE BURIAL OF OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL UTILITIES ALONG NATCHEZ AVENUE AND W. 41st STREET WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for Improvement Project No. 89-07, bids were received, opened, and tabulated by the City Clerk and Director of Public Works on April 5, 1991. Said bids were as follows: BIDDER New Mech Companies, Inc. Madsen -Johnson Corp. Adolfsen & Peterson, Inc. Johnson Brothers Corp. Barbarossa and Sons, Inc. Gridor Construction, Inc. Rice Lake Contracting Corp. Park Construction Co. BID AMOUNT $2,090,000 $2,161,000 $2,183,200 $2,200,000 $2,235,000 $2,288,700 $2,382,000 $2,432,000 WHEREAS,it appears that New Mech Companies, Inc. of Lauderdale, Minnesota, is the lowest responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of St. Louis Park to retain the services of Barr Engineering Co. for construction contract administration and inspection related to the construction of Improvement Project No. 89-07; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of St. Louis Park to provide for the burial of overhead electrical utilities along Natchez Avenue and W. 41st Street in conjunction with the construction of Improvement Project No. 89-07. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota that: 1. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract in the amount of $2,090,000 with New Mech Companies, Inc. of Lauderdale, Minnesota in the name of the City of St. Louis Park, for Improvement Project No. 89-07 according to the plans and specifications approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the Director of Public Works. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been executed. 3. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract in the amount of $135,000 with Barr Engineering Co. in the name of the City of St. Louis Park for contract administration and inspection services related to the construction of Improvement Project No. 89-07. 4. The Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract in the amount of $35,339 with Northern States Power Co. for the burial of overhead electrical utilities along Natchez Avenue and W. 41st Street in conjunction with the construction of Improvement Project No. 89-07.
