RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO THOMAS DUFFY, SECOND WARD COUNCILMEMBER
WHEREAS, for the past six years, Thomas Duffy has dignified the office
of Second Ward Councilmember demonstrating the strictest ethical
standards as well as by impartial conduct during deliberations
and by his initiative and industry; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure on the Housing and Redevelopment Authority
that body increased the availability of housing for low and moderate -
income families by increasing the number of Section 8 units from
160 to 207, fully implemented a new family scattered site program,
implemented the innovative Max 200 Program, realized the completion
of the Somerset Oaks development in the Oak Park Village
Redevelopment District as well as Target Stores and Park Shore
Apartments in the Excelsior Redevelopment District; and
WHEREAS, Thomas Duffy chaired the Housing and Redevelopment Authority
for one year and served as a Commissioner for eight years, and —
served as President of the Economic Development Authority during
its initial year; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Duffy did not seek reelection to the City Council
and his term expires on December 4, 1989; and
WHEREAS, his colleagues and City staff wish to acknowledge Thomas Duffy's
fine contribution of talent and unselfish service as a member
of the City Council, Housing and Redevelopment Authority and
Economic Development Authority,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of St.
Louis Park that it has enjoyed serving with Councilmember Thomas Duffy,
and the City is well served by officials such as he who genuinely strive
at all times to act in the best interests of the community. The City Council
and all staff members of the City extend to Tom Duffy their warmest regards
and best wishes for future success and happiness.
