HomeMy WebLinkAbout88-91 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1988/08/01REPLACEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 88-91 RESOLUTION ORDERING IMPROVEMENT, ORDERING PREPARATION OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR IMPROVEMENT NO. 88-06: PAVING, CURB & GUTTER, LANDSCAPING, STREET LIGHTING, & SIDEWALK TEXAS AVENUE FROM TRUNK HIGHWAY 7 TO WEST 36TH STREET BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park as follows: 1. Pursuant to Council direction a preliminary report has been prepared for the improvement designated in this resolution. 2. The Council being fully advised of the pertinent facts, the improvement is ordered to be constructed, in accordance with the description in the preliminary engineering report. 3. The Director of Public Works shall prepare plans and specifications for the making of the improvement. 4. The City Council shall let a contract for all or part of such improvement, or order all or part of the work done by day labor or otherwise as authorized by Minnesota Statutes, Section 429.041, Subdivision 2, no later than May 31, 1989. 5. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official newspaper and in the Construction Bulletin, an advertisement for bids upon the making of the improvement under the approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published as required by law, shall specify the work to be done, and shall specify the date and time at which bids will be opened by the City Clerk and City Manager in the Council Chambers in the City Hall. No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond, or certified check payable to the clerk for five percent of the amount of such bid. 6. The bids shall be tabulated by the Director of Public Works who shall report his tabulation and recommendation to the City Council. Adopted by the City Council August 1, 1988 Attest: Reviewed for administration: c ing City'Manag w. /oloy Approved as to form and execution: RESOLUTION NO. 88-91a RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF "NO PARKING° SIGNS ON TEXAS AVENUE (S.A.P. 163-275-09) FROM WEST 37TH STREET TO A POINT 84 FEET NORTH OF WEST 36TH STREET. "NO PARKING" SIGNS ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF WEST 36TH STREET WEST OF TEXAS AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 60 FEET, "NO PARKING" SIGNS ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF WEST 36TH STREET WEST OF TEXAS AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 100 FEET, "NO PARKING" SIGNS ALONG THE NORTH SIDE OF WALKER STREET EAST OF TEXAS AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 40 FEET AND "NO PARKING" SIGNS ALONG THE SOUTH SIDE OF WALKER STREET EAST OF TEXAS AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 110 FEET. WHEREAS, the "City" has planned the improvement of MSAS 163-275 (Texas Avenue), providing for street and signal reconstruction, and WHEREAS, the "City" will be expending Municipal State Aid Funds on the improvement on this street, and WHEREAS, this improvement does not provide adequate width for parking on both sides of Texas Avenue, and West 36th Street and Walker Street at their intersection with Texas Avenue, and WHEREAS, the proposed construction as a Municipal State Aid Street project is conditioned upon certain parking restrictions, and WHEREAS, the parking restrictions are a prerequisite to the Minnesota Department of Transportation approval of this construction as a Municipal State Aid project, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park to ban the parking of motor vehicles on both sides of Texas Avenue from West 37th Street to a point 84 feet north of West 36th Street. "No Parking" signs along the north side of West 36th Street west of Texas Avenue a distance of 60 feet, "No Parking" signs along the south side of West 36th Street west of Texas Avenue a distance of 100 feet, "No Parking" signs along the north side of Walker Street east of Texas Avenue a distance of 40 feet and "No Parking" signs along the south side of Walker Street east of Texas Avenue a distance of OF 110 feet. The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized to install the "No Parking" signs.
