HomeMy WebLinkAbout88-59 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1988/06/06RESOLUTION NO. 88-59 RESOLUTION IDENTIFYING PARK SIGNS AS PUBLIC SIGNS WHEREAS, a professional study of the Parks and Recreation Department conducted by the consulting firm of Coopers and Lybrand was officially accepted by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park on August 3, 1987; and WHEREAS, said professional study provided evidence that inconsistencies in existing park signage should be rectified to clearly identify City parks and to allow park users to better understand use restrictions; and WHEREAS, the St. Louis Park City Council has adopted a Sign Ordinance which regulates the design, construction and installation of signs within the City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 14-185 of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code, Public Signs, defined as "any regulatory, informational, or warning sign approved by the City Council for installation on public land" are exempt from the provisions of the Sign Ordinance; and WHEREAS, the installation of regulatory, informational or warning signs on City parks is clearly intended to serve the public interest. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that all regulatory, informational, or warning signs currently located on park property are hereby determined to be Public Signs; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all such signage deemed necessary by the Division of Parks and Recreation subsequent to the adoption of this Resolution is hereby approved for installation on public park land.
