HomeMy WebLinkAbout88-5 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1988/01/191 RESOLUTION NO. 88-5 RESOLUTION COMMENDING GEORGE HAUN FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK WHEREAS, George Haun is retiring after 28 years of service to the City of St. Louis Park; WHEREAS, during his tenure with the City, George Haun held a variety of positions, including laborer, Parks Foreman, Director of Maintenance Services and Director of Parks and Recreation; WHEREAS, his efforts throughout his career have expanded recreational opportunities for St. Louis Park residents from the development of the City's park and trail system to the creation of new programs, such as Summer Learning and Play, which the City operates jointly with Community Education; WHEREAS, George Haun has played an important role in the development of many City recreational facilities, including the Recreation Center, the Westwood Hills Environmental Education Center, Bass Lake Park and the redevelopment of Oak Hill, Aquila, Wolfe and Carpenter Parks; WHEREAS, under his leadership, St. Louis Park's forestry program has been recognized for eight consecutive years through the City's designation as a Tree City USA; WHEREAS, his enthusiasm for instilling an appreciation of recreation activities among St. Louis Park residents and promoting recreation as a life-long pursuit has been his greatest contribution to our community, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that George Haun is hereby commended for his 28 years of outstanding service to St. Louis Park and his contributions which have made St. Louis Park a better place in which to live, work and play.
