HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-66 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1986/05/19RESOLUTION N0. 86-66 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CERTAIN ACTION TO BRING THE POLICE AND FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATIONS INTO COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LAW WHEREAS, Chapter 359 of the Minnesota Statutes pertaining to the regulation of police and fire relief associations was amended during the 1986 general legislative session; and WHEREAS, the City must take certain actions to bring its police and fire relief associations into compliance with state law; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that it hereby authorizes the following actions to be taken to bring the St. Louis Park police and fire relief associations into compliance with state law: 1. Appointment of the City Manager and the Finance Director, or their designees, to serve on the police and fire relief association boards and to be responsible for receiving and depositing receipts and counter- signing disbursements of $5,000 or more; 2. Establishing $25,000 as the minimum amount for which relief association treasurers must be bonded; and 3. Requesting the State Auditor to allow the current auditors retained by the police and fire relief associations to continue conducting audits.
