HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-47 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1985/04/05RESOLUTION NO. 85-47 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING HIGHWAY 7 DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT PURSUANT TO MINNESOTA STATUTES CHAPTER 472a WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park has identified the Highway 7 corridor as a section of the community in which the stimulation of private development is necessary, desirable and in the public interest; and WHEREAS, the City Council determines that the construction of certain public improvements along the Highway 7 corridor in accordance with the City's Comprehensive Plan would support the business enterprises which presently exist as well as encourage the growth of business activities; and WHEREAS, such development is anticipated to enhance employment opportunities, increase the tax base and promote development activity in the City; and WHEREAS, the City seeks to: eliminate physical blight and improve the image, appearance and transportation features of the Highway 7 corridor; develop all sites in a manner consistent with City, state and federal environmental regulations; improve the economic viability of the Highway 7 corridor; and enhance and strengthen the Park Hill commercial area so that it is attractive for retail and business uses; and WHEREAS, at its regularly scheduled meeting of April 3, 1985 the St. Louis Park Planning Commission found the Highway 7 Development District to be in conformance with the City's Comprehensive Plan (adopted by the City Council March 5, 1984) and offered unanimous support for the proposal; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that the Highway 7 Development District, the functions and descriptions of which are included in the Highway 7 Development Program, is hereby established in accordance with the objectives of the Highway 7 Development Program and pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 472a.
