A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SIGN POLICY FOR
WALSER FORD & WALSER CHRYSLER -PLYMOUTH AT
3551-3555 HIGHWAY 100
WHEREAS, a special permit to conduct new and used automobile and non -heavy-
duty truck sales has been granted to Walser Ford & Walser Chrysler -Plymouth
("Walser") in the Planned Unit Development District at 3551-3555 Highway 100; and
WHEREAS, Special Permit Resolution No. 7270, Condition 17(2), provides that
Walser submit a sign policy for City evaluation and review; and
WHEREAS, during February, 1984, Walser provided an inventory of all signage
which was reviewed by the City Council; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that on May 7, 1984, the St. Louis Park City Council established
the following sign policy for Walser:
1) Maximum aggregate sign area on the site, including both permanent
and temporary signs, shall not exceed 1,500 square feet.
2) Individual sign faces shall not exceed 150 square feet. Pylon signs
shall not exceed a total of 300 square feet for all sign faces
combined.
3) No sign shall exceed a height of 25 feet above the elevation of
the center of the nearest street. The 42 foot -high pylon sign
facing Highway 100 shall be lowered to comply with this requirement
when the road bed of Highway 100 is lowered.
4) No signs shall be placed within required landscaped setback areas
or on rooftops. Pylon signs may be permitted to overhang landscaped
setbacks, provided the overhang does not encroach upon the setback
more than 18 inches. Previously approved pylon signs are exempt
from this requirement. No overhanging sign shall interfere with
tree growth in the landscaped area.
5) Sign materials shall be compatible with on-site building materials.
6) Sign lighting shall be either internal or indirect.
7) Temporary signs shall be included in the maximum square footage
and shall be allowed for a total of 30 days per year.
A temporary sign shall be construed to be any design, graphic or
device intended to draw attention to the site and the sales and
services provided thereon including canvas, paper, wood or plastic
and all forms of portable signs, statues and other displays. Pennants,
banners and balloons shall be prohibited.
8) A maximum of 4 pylon signs shall be allowed on the site.
