HomeMy WebLinkAbout84-43 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1984/04/161 RESOLUTION NO. 84-43 RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING RICHARD W. SETTER WHEREAS, Richard W. Setter has served as Chief of Police since 1975 and has been a member of the St. Louis Park Police Department since 1961; WHEREAS, during his tenure as Chief of Police, Richard W. Setter is credited with initiating many innovative law enforcement programs including the Crime Prevention Fund, Neighborhood Watch, and the Community Service Officer program; WHEREAS, under his direction, the St. Louis Park Police Department has gained national prominence through the unprecedented efforts of Project UNICORN; WHEREAS, his leadership has been characterized by a dedication to the principles of law enforcement and strong support for continuing education and the professionalization of police officers; WHEREAS, his commitment to professional law enforcement has been manifested through his service as chairman of the Peace Officers Standards and Training Board from 1978 through 1982; and WHEREAS, he has recognized the importance of community -wide involvement in law enforcement matters and has been instrumental in forging a partnership between the St. Louis Park Police Department and the community which it serves; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that Richard W. Setter is hereby commended for his 22 years of service to the City and his 9 years of a vigorous and forward-looking leadership of the St. Louis Park Police Department. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the St. Louis Park City Council, on behalf of all residents, congratulates Richard W. Setter on his appointment as Chief of Police in the City of Minnetonka and wishes him every success in his new position.
