RESOLUTION NO. 7387
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN EMPLOYEE HEALTH
PROMOTION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City has a clear interest in maximizing the productivity
of its work force;
WHEREAS, employee health has a signficant impact on the productivity
and effectiveness of the City's work force;
WHEREAS, there is substantial evidence to show that positive lifestyle
changes can improve employees' health by reducing the risks associated
with the development of today's most prevalent diseases; and
WHEREAS, reducing employee health risk and promoting positive lifestyle
changes is expected to result in lower increases in health insurance
premiums and workers' compensation costs;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis
Park that an amount not to exceed the $5,000 appropriation in the 1983'
budget for this purpose shall be used to implement a health promotion
program for all interested permanent and probationary city employees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that City staff may use the resources of Control
Data Corporation's Life Extension Institute and any other resources
available in the community which would contribute to the development of
a cost-effective wellness program for City employees.
