HomeMy WebLinkAbout6775 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1981/02/02February 2, 1981 RESOLUTION NO. 6775 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING EFFORTS OF THE MINNESOTA POLLUTION CONTROL AGENCY TO REQUEST FUNDING FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FROM THE UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION TREATMENTS IN THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK. WHEREAS, St. Louis Park's former Republic Creosote site Itas been ranked among the top ten hazardous wastes sites currently known in the United States; land WHEREAS, $2.8 Million has been appropriated in the FY 1981 Federal budget ,to complete engineering design work for the future implementation of remedial Factions; and WHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protection Agency Region V office has requested the State of Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Co submit a proposal for engineering design work on remedial actions in regard to the groundwater contamination in the St. Louis Park area; and WHEREAS, a proposal for remedial action has been prepared with the 'collaboration of the Minnesota Department of Health, the Minnesota Pollution 'Control Agency, and the consultant firm of Hickok & Associates; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of St. Louis Park that: 1. The City will cooperate in any way possible t� facilitate the exploration and design of abatement measures to eliminate the groundwater contamination problem in St. Louis Park. 2. The City Council urges the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to support the United States Environmental Protection Agency in any manner possible to attain financial and technical assistance for engineering design services aimed at accomplishing, immediate benefits for the St. Louis Park groundwater contamination problem.
