HomeMy WebLinkAbout6353 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1979/09/10RESOLUTION NO. 6353 RESOLUTION DIRECTING CITY ATTORNEY TO SEEK INFORMATION AND CONTINUED COOPERATION WITH THE MINNESOTA POLLU- TION CONTROL AGENCY AND THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WHEREAS, the St. Louis Park City Council has received a report from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) indicating an expansion of their monitoring activities at N1, Industries/Taracorp, Inc.', 3645 Hampshire Avenue, and surrounding environs, beyond current levels; and WHEREAS, there is continued interest and apprehension on the part of the public with respect to air pollution and lead emissions at NL Industries/ Taracorp, Inc.; and WHEREAS, the City Council remains anxious to resolve the problem as rapidly as possible by whatever means; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY the St. Louis Park City Council: 1) The City Council expresses its appreciation to the MPCA and MD11 and urges a prompt conclusion of their studies. 2) The City Council pledges its utmost cooperation to the MPCA and MDH and other agencies in the joint attempt to resolve this problem. 3) The City Council calls upon the MPCA and MDH and other agencies to join with the City in appropriate enforcement actions to resolve this problem. 4) The City Council stands in readiness upon call of the Mayor to meet_ forthwith upon the receipt of additional information from appropriate agencies and the public to resolve this problem.
