HomeMy WebLinkAbout6338 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1979/08/27REPLACEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 6338 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COMMISSIONER OF THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO REVIEW THE SPEED ZONING ON CEDAR LAKE BETWEEN HIGHWAY 100 AND THE JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER WHEREAS, the traffic flow on Cedar Lake Road between Highway 100 and the Jewish Community Center is substantial; and WHEREAS, the surrounding neighborhood is populated by numerous young children who, because of the absence of sidewalk, frequently use the streets; and WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road has various curvatures which limit pedestrian visibility of oncoming traffic; and WHEREAS, vehicles operating at speeds greater than 30 miles per hour pose a risk to the health, safety and welfare of pedestrians; and WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road between Highway 100 and the Jewish Community Center' is presently speed zoned at 40 miles per hour; and IIPTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of St. Louis Pa'rk' Minnesota, hereby requests the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation, pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section 169.14, Subd. 5, to study the need for the establishment of a 30 mile per hour speed zone on Cedar Lake Road between Highway 100 and the Jewish Community Center.
