RESOLUTION NO. 6213
RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR LOCAL SELF-INSURANCE
LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, the City of St. Louis Park has experienced tremendous increases
in the cost of all types of municipal insurance, in particular, liability and
Worker's Compensation insurance, as evidenced by the following figures:

WHEREAS, the cities of Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Coon
Rapids, Crystal, Edina, Fridley, Golden Valley, Minnetonka, Richfield,and
St. Louis Park and Hennepin County have had preliminary discussions of the
possibility of cooperatively self-insuring or jointly purchasing insurance;
and
WHEREAS, it appears it may be financially advantageous for these cities
to participate in a cooperative self-insurance effort; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park urges
the Legislature to adopt either general or special legislation to authorize
these local entities to cooperatively self -insure their risks.
