HomeMy WebLinkAbout6137 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1978/10/04OCTOBER 4, 1978 8k RESOLUTION Nab 1 'r :' RESOLUTION REQUESTING HENNEPIN COUNTY TO INSTALL PERMANENT INTERSECTION CONTROLS AT EXCELSIOR BOULEVARD (CSAH 3) AND MEADOWBROOK ROAD IN ST. LOUIS PARK WHEREAS, Excelsior Boulevard (CSAH 3) is under the jurisdiction of Hennepin County, and WHEREAS, Excelsior Boulevard (CSAH 3) intersects with Meadowbrook Road and serves as a major vehicular access and pedestrian crossing for the commercial businesses in this area, and WHEREAS, recent traffic counts indicate that traffic signals are warranted under the State M.U.T.C.D. standards, and WHEREAS, from January 1, 1972 to December 31, 1976 there have been 47 reported personal injury and property damage accidents at the intersection of Excelsior Boulevard and Meadowbrook Road, and WHEREAS, on many occasions the City has requested that Hennepin County install permanent intersection controls at this location, and WHEREAS, Salkin and Linoff, Inc. have made provisions to donate the additional right-of-way needed for the project construction in the area north of Excelsior Boulevard and east of Meadowbrook Road, and WHEREAS, the intersection of Meadowbrook Road and Excelsior Boulevard is a continuing hazard to the safety and welfare of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic in St. Louis Park, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of St. Louis Park that Hennepin County is hereby requested to witness these warrants and install permanent intersection controls at Meadowbrook Road and Excelsior Boulevard to provide for improved pedestrian and vehicle safety at that location.
