LOUIS PARK RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES TO IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF DECORATIVE GAS LAMPS WHEREAS, the state and nation are experiencing a severe fuel shortage, and WHEREAS, it has been estimated that in the next thirty days gas lamps throughout the state will consume approximately three-quarters of a million cubic feet of fuel, and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature has prohibited the use of decorative gas lamps after April 20, 1977, and WHEREAS, in order to help conserve fuel, the Governor and Executive Council of the State of Minnesota have requested that all residents turn off gas lamps immediately. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that all residents, excluding citizens over 65 years of age, and businesses are hereby urged to immediately turn off all decorative gas lamps in order to help conserve fuel and to demonstrate the community's concern for and dedication to energy conservation.
