RESOLUTION NO. 5485
RESOLUTION REQUESTING TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY
BOARD TO INCLUDE CERTAIN HIGH VOLUME COLLECTOR
STREETS AS FEDERAL AID URBAN ROUTES
WHEREAS, the following described roadways in the City of St. Louis Park
are classified as collector streets on the functional classification map
adopted by the Metropolitan Council Technical Advisory Committee on October
15, 1975, and
WHEREAS, a policy adopted by the Transportation Advisory Board on
January 21, 1976, provides for inclusion of collector streets in the Federal
Aid Urban system when specified criteria are satisfied, and
WHEREAS, Federal Aid Urban funding is required in order for the City
to complete its local arterial system thereby reducing congestion and
unnecessary use of energy and to provide for access to employment and busi-
ness opportunities and existing major traffic generators, and
WHEREAS, completion of the local arterial system will not negatively
effect the safety or capacity of the nearest Principal and Intermediate
arterials, and
WHEREAS, a ring road has been shown on the City's Comprehensive Plan
from Highway 100 to Highway 12 generally along Vernon Avenue but was not
totally included on the collector system, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council requests the following collector
streets be reviewed by the Transportation Advisory Board and be established
as eligible collector streets on the FAU system, and that Vernon Avenue
extension be included as a collector street:
Monterey Avenue, West 36th Street, Oxford Street, Meadowbrook
Road from Montery Avenue, and Excelsior Boulevard to Meadowbrook
Road and Excelsior Boulevard
Vernon Avenue from Highway 12 to Highway 100 and West 24th Street
Texas Avenue from Minnetonka Boulevard to Trunk Highway 7
