HomeMy WebLinkAbout4706 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1972/12/18RESOLUTION NO. 4706 DECEMBER 18, 1972 7H RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR CITY PARTICIPATION IN GROJP LIFE INSURANCE FOR CITY EMPLOYEES JOINTLY WITH HENNEPIN COUNTY WHEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the compensation of its employees and to make available to them the benefits and advantages of group insurance rates and coverage as authorized by Minnesota Statutes of 1959, Section 471.61, and WHEREAS, the City of St. Louis Park and the County of Hennepin have entered into a contract for joint participation in providing group life insurance for City employees in the group insurance plan now in effect for County employees, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that: 1. The City Manager and the Mayor after Council approval be and they hereby are authorized to execute and renew from time to time on behalf of the City various group life insurance contracts including provision for basic coverage including waiver of premium, accidental death and dismember- ment in the sum of $5,000.00, and also providing supplementary coverage for Voluntary Group Life Insurance on employees and their dependents, in the forms and for the purposes authorized by law in M.S.A. 471.61 for the benefit of the employees and officers of the City where execution of contracts is required, and to approve such contracts where approval thereof shall be required. 2. The group insurance plans hereby authorized shall be limited to the group life insurance plan currently in existance between Hennepin County and North American Life and Casualty Company. 3. The City shall pay to the insurers from the funds of the City for the year 1973, commencing with the January 1973 installment on such approved group life insurance coverage for its paid employees and officers, permanent or probationary regardless of the manner of their election or appointment, the full amount of the premium for the basic coverage mentioned above and the City shall deduct from the compensationcf such officers and employees and pay to insurers the premium authorized in writing by such employees for supplementary insurance of their choice as above mentioned, all in accordance with M.S.A. 471.61. 4. The appropriate officers are hereby authorized and directed to deduct the proper amounts for any such premiums and to remit to the insurer such deductions and City contributions as are hereinbefore mentioned.
