HomeMy WebLinkAbout4569 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1972/07/13Original JULY 13, 1972 RESOLUTION NO.4569 RESOLUTION REARRANGING THE BOUNDARIES OF CERTAIN VOTING PRECINCTS WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the voting precincts in the various Wards of the City of St. Louis Park and has determined that certain precincts require modification due to rearrangement of Legislative Districts by the Federal Courts, and WHEREAS, M.S.A. Section 203.06 provides that the Council of each municipality shall prescribe by Resolution the boundaries of the precincts and the number of voters therein, and may rearrange the precincts from time to time, and WHEREAS, M.S.A. Section 203.06 which further provides that all changes shall be made by resolution of the Council adopted at least 90 days before the next ensuing election, has been modified by the Federal Courts to permit changes in precinct boundaries by adoption of such a resolution 60 days before the next ensuing election, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that the following precinct boundaries are hereby rearranged and prescribed as follows: WARD I PRECINCT NO. 1: Precinct No. 1 is the area bounded on the West by State Highway No. 100; thence north on State Highway No. 100 to West 26th Street; thence east on West 26th Street,and West 26th Street extended to the East City limits; thence south along the east City limits to Minnetonka Boulevard; thence west on Minnetonka Boulevard to Joppa Avenue; thence north on Joppa Avenue to West 20th Street; thence west on West 28th Street to State Highway No. 100. PRECINCT NO. 3: Precinct No. 3 is the area bounded on the north by Minnetonka Boulevard; thence east on Minnetonka Boulevard to the East line of Vernon Avenue; thence north on the east line of Vernon Avenue to the juncture of Vernon Avenue and West 28th Street; thence east on West 23th Street to State Highway No. 100; thence south along State Highway No. 100 to the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way; thence westerly along the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way to Dakota Avenue; thence north on Dakota Avenue to Minnetonka Boulevard. PRECINCT NO. 4: Precinct No. 4 is the area bounded on the west by Dakota Avenue; thence north on Dakota Avenue to West 27th Street; thence east on West 27th Street to State Highway No. 100; thence south along State Highway No. 100 to West 28th Street; thence west on West 20th Street to the west line of Vernon Avenue; thence south on the west line of Vernon Avenue to Minnetonka Boulevard; thence west on Minnetonka Boulevard to Dakota Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 5: Precinct No. 5 is the area bounded on the south by West 27th Street; thence west on West 27th Street to Dakota Avenue; thence north on Dakota Avenue and Dakota Avenue extended to the south line of Cedar Lake Road; thence east on the south line of Cedar Lake Road to the east line of Zarthan Avenue; thence north on the east line of Zarthan Avenue to the north City limits; thence east, south and east on the north City limits to the east City limits; thence south on the east City limits to the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way; thence westerly along the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to the west line of State Highway No. 100; thence southerly along the west line of State Highway No. 100 to West 27th Street. PRECINCT NO. 6: Precinct No. 6 is the area bounded on the west by State Highway No. 100; thence northerly along State Highway No. 100 to the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way; thence easterly along the Great Northern railroad right-of-way to the east City limits; thence south along the east City limits to the extension of West 26th Street; thence west on West 26th Street and the extension thereof to State Highway No. 100. WARD III PRECINCT NO. 2: Precinct No. 2 is the area bounded on the north by Minnetonka Boulevard; thence east on Minnetonka Boulevard to Dakota Avenue; thence south on Dakota Avenue to the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way; thence westerly on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad right-of-way to the extension of Hampshire Avenue; thence northerly on Hampshire Avenue and the extension thereof and Gorham Avenue to the extension of West 34th Street; thence west on West 34th Street and the extension thereof to Rhode Island Avenue; thence north on Rhode Island Avenue to Minnetonka Boulevard. PRECINCT NO. 3: Precinct No. 3 is the area bounded on the north by the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way; thence easterly along the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to Dakota Avenue extended; thence south on Dakota Avenue and the extension thereof to Minnetonka Boulevard; thence west on Minnetonka Boulevard to Jersey Avenue; thence north on Jersey Avenue and the extension thereof, to the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way. PRECINCT NO. 4: Precinct No. 4 is the area bounded on the south by Minnetonka Boulevard; thence west on Minnetonka Boulevard to Texas Avenue; thence north on Texas Avenue to West 2Cth Street; thence west on West 28th Street to the Hopkins Branch of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way; thence northerly along the Hopkins Branch of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to the main line of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way; thence easterly along the main line of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to Jersey Avenue extended; thence south on Jersey Avenue and the extension thereof to Minnetonka Boulevard. -2- WARD III PRECINCT NO. 5: Precinct No. 5 is the area bounded on the south by West 34th Street; thence west on West 34th Street to the Hopkins Branch of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way; thence northerly on the Hopkins Branch of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way to West 28th Street; thence east on West 28th Street to Texas Avenue; thence south on Texas Avenue to the south line of Minnetonka Boulevard; thence east on the south line of Minnetonka Boulevard to Rhode Island Avenue; thence south on Rhode Island Avenue to gest 34th Street.
