HomeMy WebLinkAbout4442 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1972/02/07ORIGINAL FEBRUARY 7, 1972 7B RESOLUTION NO.4 4 2 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING FILING OF APPLICATION FOR GRANT UNDER PROVISIONS OF THE OMNIBUS CRIME CONTROL AND SAFE STREETS ACT OF 1968 (P.L. 90-351) WHEREAS, Title I Section 304 of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (P.L. 90-351) and Executive Order No. 28, December 13, 1968 State of Minnesota provide for the making of grants to assist local bodies in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement within the local agency's jurisdiction, and WHEREAS, the City of St. Louis Park desires to initiate a Community Ombudsmand Program to accomplish the goals of the Act, and WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 P. L. 88-352 (1964) and the regulations promulgated pursuant to such Act by the Department of Justice effectuating that title, provide that no person shall, be discriminated against because of race, color, or national origin under any program or activity for which the Applicant receives federal assistance, and WHEREAS, it is estimated that the cost of initiating said program shall be $56,571 over a three year period to the City of St. Louis Park, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park, that: 1. An application be made to the Governor's Commission on Crime Prevention and Control for a grant under provisions of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (P.L. 90-351) for an amount presently estimated to be $84,856 over a three year period and the applicant will pay the balance of the cost from other funds now available to it and shall distribute and expend the funds in conformance with the policies, rules and regulations of the Governor's Commission on Crime Prevention and Control. 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute and file such application with the State of Minnesota Governor's Commission on Crime Prevention and Control and to provide additional information and to furnish such documents as may be required by said Agency, to execute such contracts as are required, and to act as the authorized correspondent of the Applicant. J 3. That the United States of America and the State of Minnesota be, and they hereby are, assured of full compliance by the applicant with the regulations of the Department of Justice, effectuating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
