HomeMy WebLinkAbout303 - ADMIN Resolution - City Council - 1956/10/01174 Resolution No. 302 Adopted October 1, 1956 ELIMINATING STREET -IMPROVEMENT 56-29 and 55-79 FROM CONTRACTS WHEREAS, Street Improvement No. 55-79 was included in a contract dated August 29, 1955, between the City and Associate Asphalt Company, and not having been completed by the Contractor within the time provided, has been done by the City , and WHEREAS, Improvement No. 56-29 was included in contract dated July 23, 1956, between the City and Asconite Asphalt Company, and it appearing that change of drainage conditions make it impracticable to proceed with said improvement, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that said Improvement 55-79 be eliminated from said contract dated August 29, 1955, and that Improvement 56-29 be eliminated from said contract dated July 23, 1956. Resolution No. 303 Adopted October 1, 1956 RESOLUTION AGREEING TO JOIN WITH THE STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO IMPROVE HIGHWAY # 100 WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota, Department of Highways, proposed to make certain improvements on a portion of Trunk Highway No. 100 located in the City of St. Louis Park upon and "along Minn. State Highway No. 100 from the South City Limits to Excelsior Boulevard (a distance of approximately 3900 ft.) and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City that such improvements of said roadway be extended to greater width and capacity than is necessary to accommo- date normal trunk highway traffic, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that the State of Minnesota, Department of Highways is requested to provide for improve- ments on the aforesaid portion of Trunk Highway No. 100 consisting particularly of (set out in detail the items of work in which the City will participate in the costa and the width and kind of surfacing requested) Curb and Gutter Type B - 18-6 and permanent type A C bituminous surfacing from the existing concrete pavement to the curb and gutter line considered as construction and improvement of said road- way to greater width and capacity than is necessary to accommodate normal trunk highway traffic. BE IT ruN.THER RESOLVED that following approval by the Minnesota Depart- ment of Highways of plans and specifications for said improvements of said trunk highway and before a contract is awarded for the construction of said improve- ments the City shall enter into an agreement with the State which shall provide that the City shall pay not more than 25% of the cost of construction work'per- formed on said roadway of greater width and capacity than is necessary to accommo- date normal trunk highway traffic, that the City shall pay its proportionate share of the cost of constructing necessary underground drainage structures computed on the basis of areas drained by such structures, and, if the State lets the con- struction contract, shall deposit with the State at the time such agreement is en- tered into a sum equal to an estimate of the City's share of such construction costs as prepared by the Minnesotas.Department of Highways. 1 1 1 Resolution No. 303 - Continued The City shall, in addition to paying its proportionate share of the cost of the proposed work, obtain at its sole cost and expense all necessary right of way easements and construction permits for the work to be performed outside the limits of the trunk highway or established City streets, together with all drainage outlet rights where necessary. Such easements, permits and rights shall be obtained and satisfactory evidence thereof furnished the De- partment of Highways before any contract for the proposed work is awarded. Resolution No. 304 Adopted October 1, 1956 SETTING HEARING ON PROPOSED WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION RESOLVED by the City Council that the Clerk be directed_to publish notice of hearing, to be held at the Council meeting October 15, 1956, on the following proposed improvements WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION Impr. No. Estimated cost 12" water main 56-89 In_Edgewood Avenue from Elliot View Road to Great Northern R. R. $14,949.00 The area to be assessed for the 12" water main is as follows: Commencing at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Hampshire Avenue and continuing East on Franklin Avenue to Edgewood Avenue, thence North on Edgewood Avenue to a point where 18th Street would intersect Edge -- wood Avenue, thence East on this line to the East line of Section 4, Township 117, Range 21, thence South on this line to the North boundary of the Great Northern Railroad right-of-way, thence West on the North boundary of the right- of-way of the Great Northern Railroad to a point where Hampshire Avenue would intersect the right-of-way, thence North along Hampshire Avenue to the point of beginning.
