Resolution No. 213 Adopted February 6, 1956
The following preamble and resolutions, were introduced by Councilman
Ken Wolfe who moved their adoption: '
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that Aquila Avenue and West 31st Street be
extended as shown on the enclosed Exhibit "A", which is hereby madeā¢a part -hereof;
and
WHEREAS, Independent School District No. 205 has procured land contiguous to
Minnetonka Boulevard and, the tracks of the Great Northern Railroad as shown on
Exhibit "A"; and it is contemplated that a school Will be built on said land;
and because of topographical conditions, it has been concluded that the only feas-
ible means of gaining access to said school premises is by means of a grap cross-
ing across the adjacent tracks of the Great Northern Railroad to Aquila Avenue.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS
RESOLVED, that`the City Manager of the City of St. Louis Park be, and he
hereby is, authorized and directed to petition the Railroad and Warehouse Commi-
ssion of the State of Minnesota, to establish a grade crossing in the form of a
public thoroughfare across the tracks of the Great Northern Railroad in accord-
ance with the attached Exhibit "A".
RESOLVED FURTHER, that said City Attorney be, and he hereby is, authorized
and directed to take any and all such steps as may be necessary and, proper to
present the aforedescribed petition to said Railroad and Warehouse Commission.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolutions was duly seconded
by Councilman Jorvig and on vote being taken, the following voted in favor thereof:
all members - and the following voted against the motion; none
whereupon said resolutions were declared duly passed and adopted.
Resolution No. 214 Adopted February 13, 1956
RESOLUTION GRANTING PERMIT
UNDER SECTION 1013 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK
WHEREAS, application has been made to the City Council by Macey Signs for
permit under Section 10.3 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of St. Louis Park
for the following purpose:
To erect Two (2) signs, one 10 x 40 and one 10 x 45 flatwise
on building at 4000 Minnetonka Boulevard setting forth the
name "STILLMANeS" for Stillmans Food Market, only.
and
WHEREAS, the Council has considered the effect of the proposed use on the
health, safety and welfare of the occupants of surrounding lands, existing traffic
conditions, including parking facilities on adjacent streets, and effect on values
and properties in the surrounding area, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of St. Louis Park that it is
hereby determined that the said proposed use will not be detrimental to the health,
safety or public welfare, to the occupants of surrounding lands, nor will it cause
serious traffic congestion, nor hazards, nor will it seriously depreciate surround-
ing property values, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that permit be hereby granted to the applicant for
the purpose above set forth.
