AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ST. LOUIS PARK HOME RULE CHARTER
SECTION 1.00. PREAMBLE
THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. The St. Louis Park Home Rule Charter Section 1.00. Preamble is hereby amended to
insert the words "sexual orientation" to read:
Section 1.00. Preamble. Human freedom and human rights are indivisible and the recognition
of equality of all people is indispensable in the administration of a just government. Written
documents which govern our nation and state clearly proclaim the rights and responsibilities of
the people in making these freedoms possible. It is proper that cities do also for human rights
denied to one are denied to all. We, the people of St. Louis Park, therefore do hereby declare
that equality of rights under the law shall not be abridged or denied by the City of St. Louis
Park on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, marital status, familial
status, sexual orientation, age or status with regard to public assistance or disability. The
following Charter is a declaration of the policy of the City of St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
SECTION 2. Effective Date
This ordinance shall be in force and take effect in the City Charter ninety (90) days after its
passage and publication.
