AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ST. LOUIS PARK MUNICIPAL CODE, SECTION
2-105, "PRESIDING OFFICER," BY THE ADDITION OF SUBSECTION (b)
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS DURING THE ABSENCE
OF THE MAYOR AND MAYOR PRO TEM
THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN:
Sec. 1. The St. Louis Park Municipal Code, Section 2-105, is hereby
amended by the addition of Subsection b and by the removal of certain redundant
language to read as follows:
Section 2-105. The Presiding Officer. The Mayor shall be the presiding officer
of the Council. A Mayor pro tem shall be elected by the City Council at the first
regular meeting in January of each year to serve in the absence or disability of
the Mayor. The presiding officer shall vote as a member of the Council on all
questions, the name of the presiding officer being called last. The presiding
officer shall sign all ordinances and resolutions adopted by the Council.
(a) Absence of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem. In the absence or disability of the
Mayor and the Mayor pro tem, the secretary shall call the Council meeting
to order and shall preside until the Councilmembers elect a temporary
presiding officer. Upon the arrival of the Mayor or Mayor pro tem, the
temporary presiding officer shall immediately relinquish the chair upon
the conclusion of the business currently under consideration.
(b) Documents Requiring Signatures. In the absence or unavailability of the
Mayor and Mayor pro tem, the Councilmer who has served the most con-
secutive years on the Council may sign any ordinance or resolution adopted
by the Council and may sign all documents or instruments approved by the
Council and necessary for the efficient management of the City.
Sec. 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect 15 days after its
publication.

Summary This ordinance amendment pro-
vides that the Councilmember having the
longest tenure on the Council may sign official
documents in the absence of the Mayor and
Mayor pro tem It also removes certain redun-
dant language.
Effective Date This ordinance shall take ef-
fect on February 25, 1993 (15 days after its
publication)
