HomeMy WebLinkAbout1886-92 - ADMIN Ordinance - City Council - 1992/06/01b ORDINANCE NO. 1886-92 AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS ON THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION TO ELEVEN AND AMENDING THE ST. LOUIS PARK MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 1-341 (1) (2) AND (3) "MEMBERSHIP OF COMMISSION AND TERMS" THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN: Sec. 1 The St. Louis Park Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1-341. Membership of Commission and Terms (1) The Commission shall be an advisory commission to the City Council and shall consist of eleven regular members and two youth members all appointed as hereafter set forth. (2) Regular members. Ten of the regular members of the Commission, at least one of whom shall be an attorney, shall be appointed by the City Council for a three year term. One regular member shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Board of Independent School District No. 283 for three year terms unless such an appointment shall be sooner terminated by said Board. Failure of said school board to appoint its member to serve on the Commission shall in no way affect the validity of the proceedings of the Commission. The terms of regular members shall run until the 31st day of December of the year in which their terms expire and until a successor is appointed and qualified. Subsequent appointments shall be for three-year terms. In the event of a vacancy, the Council shall appoint a person to complete the unexpired term. A member of the Commission may be removed with or without cause by the City Council. (3) Youth Members. Two non-voting youth members shall be appointed by the City Council and serve a term of one year. At least one youth member shall be a student at the St. Louis Park High School, the other shall be a resident of St. Louis Park and a high school student of a private or public school. 'Such members shall be appointed as soon as practicable after the first day of September each year and shall serve until the 31st of August of the following year and until a successor is appointed and qualified. Such members shall attend all meetings. b Page 2 Sec. 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect 15 days after its publication.
