AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ST. LOUIS PARK MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED
TO MASSAGE THERAPY TRAINING (500 HOURS) : ADDING SECTIONS
13-1147(1)(a) AND 13-1149(2)(c); AND AMENDING SECTIONS
13-1149 (2) (a) (ii) AND 13-1151
THE CITY OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN:
Sec. 1. The St. Louis Park Municipal Code, Section 13-1147(1)(a) is
hereby added to read:
a) Massage therapists graduated with a minimum of 500 hours'
training from a massage therapy school approved by the City and
with current membership in a bonafide national massage therapy
association with a written and enforceable code of ethics, also
approved by the City, must comply with all City licensing
requirements with the exception that they are not required to
be employed in a Licensed Massage Therapy Establishment as
required in Section 13-1151.
Sec. 2. The St. Louis Park Municipal Code, Section 13-1149(2)(a)(ii)
is hereby amended to read:
ii) proof of course work in the areas set forth in subsections b and c
below may be in the form of notarized affidavits of the applicant
and, where applicable, notarized affidavits of the applicant's
supervisor or employer or the licensing authority where applicant
engaged in the practice of massage.
Sec. 3. The St. Louis Park Municipal Code, Section 13-1149(2)(c) is
hereby added to read:

c) Each applicant shall furnish proof at the time of application of
500 hours' training from a massage therapy school approved by
the City and with current membership in a bonafide national
massage therapy association with a written and enforceable code
of ethics, also approved by the City.
Sec. 4. Penalty Clause. Violation of this ordinance shall be a
misdemeanor.
Sec. 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect 15
days following its publication.
