HomeMy WebLinkAbout1676-86 - ADMIN Ordinance - City Council - 1986/03/17ORDINANCE NO. 1676-86 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO INDEMNIFICATION OF CITY OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES: AMENDING THE ST. LOUIS PARK MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 1-207. THE CITY COUNCIL OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. The St. Louis Park Municipal code is amended by adding a new Section 1-207 to read as follows: Section 1-207. Indemnification. The City shall indemnify and provide defense for any employee or officer, whether elective or appointive, against any claims or suits arising out of an alleged act or omission within the scope of employment or official duties to the extent required by law. This obligation is subject to the liability limitations set forth in Minnesota Statutes Section 466.04 (1984). The City may obtain insurance to discharge its obligations under this section, but these obligations remain in effect whether or not insurance is obtained. The provisions of this section requiring indemnification do not apply in the case of malfeasance in office or willful or wanton neglect of duty. Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect 15 days after its publication. Adopted by the City Council March 17, Reviewed for Administration: 0303Z , 1986.
