LOUIS PARK ORDINANCE CODE RELATING TO ZONING BY AMENDING SECTION 14-185(1), GENERAL PROVISION FOR SIGNS THE CITY COUNCIL OF ST. LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN: Sec. 1. The St. Louis Park Ordinance Code, Section 14-185(1) is amendedbyadding Section 14-185(1)(p). 1 1 1 1 (n) The area within the frame shall be used to calculate the square footage except that the width of a frame exceeding twelve (12) inches shall constitute advertising space, or should such letters or graphics be mounted directly on a wall or fascia or in such a way as to be without a frame, the dimensions for calculating the square footage shall be the area extending six (6) inches beyond the periphery formed around such letters or graphics in a plane figure bounded by straight lines connecting the outermost points thereof, and each surface utilized to display a message or to attract attention shall be measured as a separate sign, and symbols, flags, pictures, wording, figures or other forms of graphics painted on or attached to windows, walls, awnings, free standing structures suspended by balloons, or kites or on persons, animals or vehicles shall be considered as a sign to be included in calculating the overall square footage. (o) Signs existing on the effective date of this ordinance which do not conform to the regulations set forth in this ordinance are a non -conforming use or structure and as such shall be under the regulations set forth in Section 14-106. (P) For property located in the PUD District, signs shall be permitted and regulated according to the zoning district regulations existing on such property immediately prior to the zoning change on said property to Planned Unit Devel- opment District. (Sec. 14-185(1)(p) Added by Ordinance 1415, July 10, 1978) (2) Signs in "R" Districts. Within the "R" Districts the following signs are permitted: (a) One (1) name plate sign for each dwelling which shall not exceed one (1) square foot in area per surface, and no sign shall be so constructed as to have more than two (2) surfaces. Such sign may indicate the name of the occupant, address of the occupant, and the type of home occupation, if such exists. July 10, 1978 626 1 1 Sec. 2. Penalty. Any person who violates this ordinance is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be punished by a fine of not to exceed $500 or by imprisonment for not to exceed ninety (90) days, or both. Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect fifteen (15) days after its publication.
