LOUIS PARK ZONING ORDINANCE", SECTION 6:172.4 RELATING TO NUMBER OF REQUIRED OFF-STREET PARKING SPACES AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 971 PASSED APRIL 4, 1966 AND ORDINANCE NO. 853 PASSED SEPTEMBER 24, 1962 AND REPEALING SECTION 6:176.4 SUBDIVISION 11 OF ORDINANCE 924 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ST. LOUIS PARK ZONING ORDINANCE" PASSED OCTOBER 5, 1964. Section 1. That Section 6:172.4 of Ordinance No. 730 passed December 28, 1959, entitled "St. Louis Park Zoning Ordinance" and amended by Ordinance No. 971 passed April 4, 1966 and Ordinance No. 853 passed September 24, 1962, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 6:172.4 Number of Required Off -Street Parking Spaces - The number of required off-street parking spaces shall be as follows for the following uses: Subdivision 1. Single Family Dwellings. At least two (2) parking spaces for each dwelling unit shall be constructed, plus one (1) additional parking space for each two (2) roomers accommodated. No person shall alter a garage to living space unless other acceptable pro- visions are made to provide the required parking space. Subdivision 2. Two Family Dwelling. At least two (2) parking spaces per dwelling unit. Subdivision -3. > Boardinghouse, Fraternity Houses, Sorority Houses. At least two (2) parking spaces for each three (3) persons for whom accommodations are provided for sleeping. Subdivision 4. Multiple Dwelling,- At least two (2) parking spaces per dwelling unit. Subdivision 5. Subdivision 6. Public Parks, Playgrounds and Play Fields. At least five (5) parking spaces for each acre of park over one (1) acre; two (2) parking spaces per acre for playgrounds, and ten (10) spaces for each acre of a playfield. When a public recreation site has more than one (1) use designation, the areas must be divided for determining the required parking spaces. Hotel. At least one and one-half (12) spaces for each guest room provided in the design or redesign of the building. Subdivision 7. Motel, Motor Court. Motor Hotel. At least one and one-half (1. 5) parking spaces for each dwelling unit or guest room. Subdivision 8. School, Elementary and Junior High. At least one (1) parking space for each classroom plus one (1) additional space for each fifty (50) student capacity. Subdivision 9. School -High School through college and private schools. At least one (1) pari ing space for eact- five (5) students based on design capacity plus one (1) for each two (2) classrooms. Subdivision 10. Church, Auditorium. At least one (1) parking space for each three (3) seats based on the design capacity of the main assembly hall. Subdivision 11. Theater, Baseball Fields. At least one (1) parking space for each five (5) seats of design capacity. Subdivision 12. Community Centers, Post Offices, YMCA, YWCA, Physical Culture Studio, Pool Halls, Libraries, Private Clubs, Lodges, Museums, Art Gallery. At least ten (10) parking spaces plus one (1) for each three hundred (300) square feet in excess of two thousand (2, 000) square feet of floor area in the principal structure. Subdivision 13. Hospital. At least one (1) parking space for each one and five -tenths (1. 5) hospital beds. Subdivision 14. Golf Course, Country Club, Tennis Club, Public Swimming Pool. Twenty (20) spaces plus one (1) for each three hundred (300) square feet in excess of one thousand (1, 000) square feet of floor space in the principal structure. Subdivision 15. Sanitariums, Convalescent Home, Rest Home, Nursing Home or Day Nursery. Five (5) spaces plus one (1) for each five (5) beds for which accommodations are offered. Subdivision 16. Dental Offices. Five (5) parking spaces plus (1) additional space for each one hundred (100) square feet or fraction thereof of floor area in excess of five hundred (500) square feet. Subdivision 17. Medical Offices. Five (5) parking spaces plus one (1) additional space for each one hundred (100) square feet or fraction thereof of floor area. -2- Subdivision 18. Offices having less than 20, 000 Square Feet of floor area, and Animal Hospitals. Five (5) parking spaces plus one (1) additional space for each one hundred and fifty (150) square feet or fraction thereof of floor area over five hundred (500) square feet. Subdivision 19. Offices Having 20, 000 or more Square Feet of Floor Area, Banks, Savings Institutions. At least one (1) parking space for each two hundred (200) square feet or fraction thereof of floor area. Subdivision 20. Drive-in Food Establishments. At least one (1) parking space for each fifteen (15) square feet of floor area in the building. Subdivision 21. Bowling Alley. At least five (5) parking spaces for each alley plus additional spaces as may be required herein for related uses. Subdivision 22. Motor Service Station. Eight (8) parking spaces plus three (3) additional parking spaces for each service stall. Subdivision 23. Retail Store and Service Establishments. At least one (1) parking space for each one hundred (100) square feet of floor area. Subdivision 24. Restaurants, Cafes, Ears, Taverns, Night Clubs. At least one (1) parking space for each twenty-five (25) square feet of floor area. Subdivision 25. Undertaking Establishments. Cne (1) parking space for each five (5) seats or thirty-five (35) square feet of seating area where there are no fixed seats, plus one (1) parking space for each two hundred and fifty (250) square feet of floor area not used for seating. Subdivision 26. Furniture Store, Appliance Store, Wholesale, Auto Sales, Studios, Commercial Greenhouse, Kennels. At least one (1) parking space for each four hundred (400) square feet of floor area. Open sales or rental lots shall provide one (1) parking space for each three thousand five hundred (3, 500) square feet of land which is to be used for sales and display area. Subdivision 27. Auto Repair - Major, Eus Terminal, Taxi Terminal, Boats, and Marine Sales and Repair, Bottling Company, Shop for a Trade employing six (6) or less people, Garden Supply Store, Building Material Sales in Structure. At least eight (8) parking spaces, plus one (1) additional space for each eight hundred (800) square feet or fraction thereof of floor area in excess of one thousand (1, 000) square feet. -3- Subdivision 28. Skating Rink, Dance Hall or Public Auction House. At least fifty (50) parking spaces, plus one (1) additional space for each one hundred (100) square feet or fraction thereof of floor space in excess of two thousand (2, 000) square feet. Subdivision 29. Golf Driving Range, Miniature Golf, Archery Range. At least ten (10) parking spaces, plus one (1) for each one hundred (100) square feet of floor space. Subdivision 30. The Manufacturing, Fabricating, or Processing of a product or material. At least ten (10) parking spaces shall be provided plus one (1) additional space for each five hundred (500) square feet of structure, exclusive of office and warehouse space which shall be calculated separately. One (1) additional off- street parking space shall be provided for each three thousand (3, 000) square feet or fraction thereof of land devoted to outside storage. Subdivision 31. Warehouse, Storage, Handlin• of Bulk Goods. At least one (1) space for each employee on maximum shift or one (1) for each one thousand five hundred (1, 500) square feet of floor area, whichever is the larger. • Section 2. Section 6:176. 4,Subdivision 11 of Ordinance No. 924,passed October 5, 1964 1964, entitled "An ordinance amending the St. Louis Park Zoning Ordinance" is hereby repealed in its entirety. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect fifteen days after its publication. Adopted by the City Council September_48 1969.
