LOUIS PARK DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 1:308 of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code entitled, ''Compensation Plan" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:308 (A) (1) Basic Tables of Numbered Pay Ranges. Each numbered pay range in the basic tables consists of a minimum and maximum bi-weekly rate with intermediate pay steps at approximately five per cent (5%) intervals. A Position Classification Assignment Table. The Council shall by resolution establish, and from time to time revise, a table which shall assign all of the various classifications in the Position Classification Plan to the appropriate pay range number in the Basic Table of Numbered Pay Ranges. -3- Section 1:308 (D) Individual Pay Rates. The initial appointment of employees of the Fire and Police Departments, except the chiefs and other designated employees thereof, shall be at the lowest step of the salary range. Employees of the Fire and Police Departments of the City, except the chiefs and other designated employees thereof, shall receive an increase in compensation of one step within the pay range of the position in which he is employed upon completion of each consecutive period of twelve (12) months satisfactory service computed as of the anniversary of his appointment to the position. The normal and beginning rate for a new employee other than police and fire will be the initial or designated step in the established range for the classification title. The City Manager may, in special cases establish a beginning rate above the initial step in the established range. Increments within established ranges are to proVide a means of recognizing out- standing performance and continued good service. Employees who successfully complete their initial probationary period at the lowest pay step in the range may be given one or more step increments at that time; and employees who successfully complete their initial probationary period at a pay step above the minimum of the range may be given one or more step increments at that time at the discretion of the City Manager, and in either instance shall receive consideration for additional increments annually thereafter. Such annual increments will not be awarded on an automatic basis but Abell be coatiigoet upon merit, performance and recommendation of the division or department head, and the approval of the City Manager. Increases at any one time will generally be limited in amount to one established pay range step, but increases of two pay range steps may be given in special cases. None of the increases provided by this aection obeli be made so as to compensate any employee in an amount exceeding the maximum step in such pay range. Section 2: That section 1:315 (A) (1) and Section 1:315 (A) (2) of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code entitled "Vacation Leave" as amended, are hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:315. Vacation Leave. A. How Much 1. Each employee, other than firemen, but including the fire chief, having less than six years consecutive full-time service shall earn vacation leave at the rate of one working day for each calendar month of full-time employment or major fraction thereof for the first ten months of each twelve month period. Each employee with more than five but less than twenty one consecutive years of full-time service shall earn vacation leave at the rate of one and one-half working days for each calendar month of full-time employment or major fraction thereof for the first ten months of each twelve month period; and each employee with twenty one years or more of consecutive full-time employment shall earn -4- Section 3: vacation leave at the rate of two working days for each calendar month of full-time service or major fraction thereof for the first ten months of each twelve month period. During vacation leave each employee shall receive compensation at his regular rate of pay. 2. Firemen, other than the chief and firemen assigned to special duties, having less than six years.ransecutive full-time service shall earn vacation leave at the rate of one-half of a twenty-four hour firemen's working day for each calendar month of full-time employment or major fraction thereof for each twelve month period. Each fireman with more than five but less than twenty one consecutive years of full-time service shall earn vacation leave at the rate of three- fourths of a twenty-four hour fireman's working day for each calendar month of full-time employment or major fraction thereof for each twelve month period; and each fireman with twenty one years or more of consecutive full-time employment shall earn vacation leave at the rate of one twenty-four hour firemen's working day for. each calendar month of full-time employment or major fraction thereof for each twelve month period. During vacation leave each fireman shall receive compensation at his regular rate of pay. Repealer. Section 1:308 (A) (3) of Ordinance No. 367, adopted December 26, 1962 entitled, 'An ordinance amending the following sections of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code relating to the position classification plan, compensation plan, basic personnel policy and conditions of City employment: Section 1:308 compensation plan and Section 1:315 vacation leave" and Ordinance No. 991, entitled, "An ordinance amending the following sections of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code relating to the position classification plan, compensation plan, basic personnel policy and conditions of City employment: Section 1:308 compensation plan; Section 1:310 work week and work days; Section 1:314 over -time payment; Section 1:315 vacation leave; Section 1:319 leave of absence without pay," adopted December 19, 1966 and Ordinance No. 1013, entitled, " An ordinance amending the following sections of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code relating to the position classification plan, compensation plan, basic personnel policy and conditions of City employment: Section 1:301 definitions; Section 1:308 compensation plan; Section 1:310 work week and work days," adopted December 18, 1967 in the portions thereof amending said Ordinance No. 867, all referring to said Section 1:308 (A) (3) entitled "Extra Compensation" are hereby repealed. -5- Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect January 1, 1969.
