LCUIS PARK CR DINANCE CCDE RELATING TC THE PCSITICN CLASSIFICATICN PLAN, CCMPENSATICN PLAN, BASIC PERSCNNEL POLICY AND CONDITIONS OF CITY EM- PLCY\r;ENT: SECTICN 1:306 PROVISIONAL APPCINTMENTS; SECTICN 1:308 CCMPENSATICN PLAN; SECTICN 1:314 CVER- TIME PAYMENT; SECTICN 1:315 VACATICN LEAVE; SECTICN 1:316 SICK LEAVE; SECTION 1:321 REST PERICDS AND HCLIDAYS. THE CITY CF ST. LCUIS PARK DCES ORDAIN: Section 1: That Section 1:306 of the St. Louis Park Crdinance Code entitled, "Provisional Appointments" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:306 Provisional Appointments B. Termination A provisional appointment shall terminate: (c) By expiration of the period during which any such appointment is limited by Civil Service or any other law, not to exceed ninety (90) days in any event; or • Section 2: That Section 1:308 of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code entitled, "Compensation Plan" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:308 (A) (1) Basic Tables of Numbered Pay Ranges. Each numbered pay range in the basic tables consists of a minimum (and maximum bi-weekly rate with intermediate pay steps at approximately five per cent (5%) intervals. Cvcr-time Payment. Authorized over -time work shall be compensated on the basis of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay, either by cash payment or by compensatory time off, as provided herein except that department and division heads shall not be eligible for nor shall they receive compensation for over -time work. Authorized over -time work -on other than a regular work day shall be compensated at the over -time rate for the actual hours worked but not less than three hours regular pay. An employee instructed by his superior to stand by and be subject to call on a Sunday or Holiday not included in the regular 1.vork week shall be compensated therefor by a minimum of four hours regular pay. Cver-time shall be computed on the basis of the number of hours actually worked in a work week in excess of the number d working hours in the regular work week for the position involved. Cver-time work in any bi-weekly pay period not amounting to four hours of regular pay shall be compensated by cash payment. When over -time work in a bi-weekly pay period amounts to more than four hours of regular pay, the portion thereof in excess of four hours, or the highest multiples thereof, shall be gompensated by cash payment; the balance may be compensated by cash payment or compensatory time off, at the discretion of the Department Head. Such compensatory time off shall be taken as designated or approved by the Department Head, but for periods of not less than four consecutive hours at a time, or multiple thereof; and such compensatory time off shall either be desig- nated or approved by the Department Head, but for periods of not less than four consecutive hours at a time, or multiple thereof; and such compensatory time off shall either be designated by the Department Head within six consecutive bi- weekly pay periods following the pay period in which earned, or shall be compen- sated by cash payment. Section 4: That Section 1:315 (c) of the St. Louis Park Crdinance Code entitled "Accrual" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:315. Vacation Leave (C) Accrual Employees may accrue vacation leave to a maximum of one and one-half times the amount earned in a year. However, no employee may use more than fifteen (15) working days vacation time in any six month period. When he deems it in the best interest of the public service, the City Manager may permit exceptions to the limitation on the use of vacation leave and its accrual. Section 5: That Section 1:316 (13)(c) of the St. Louis Park Ordinance Code entitled "Proof Required" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:316. Sick Leave. B. Proof Required. In order to be eligible for sick leave with pay, ® an employee must: (c) Submit a medical certificate for any absence ® of any length if required by the City Manager. -3- • • • • Section 6: That Section 1:321 (E) of the St. Louis Park Crdinance Code entitled "Rest Periods and Holidays" is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1:321 (B) Rest Periods and Holidays The following legal holidays shall be observed as holidays for City employees: New Year's Day Lincoln's Birthday Washington's Birthday Good Friday Memorial Day Independence Day Columbus Day Labor Day Veteran's Day Thanks giving Day Christmas Day When Nc w Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Christmas Day fall on a Sunday, the following day shall be observed as a holiday. When Christmas Day or New Year's Day fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday or the following Monday, at the discretion of the City Manager, shall be observed as a holiday. Work by employees who are required to be on duty on any holiday shall be compensated for on the basis of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay, either by cash payment or by compensatory time off, in addition to the eight (8) hours pay given for the holiday as in the mariner prescribed for overtime payment by Section 1:314 of this ordinance. None of this Section 1:321 shall apply to members of the Fire Department except that it shall apply to the Chief. Section 7: This ordinance shall take effect Jrnuary 3, 1966.
